Message from the Grand President, Abuja Grand Commandery

Brig. Gen. Francis U. Njoku

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Feast of St. John the Baptist on 24th June 2026, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt felicitations to all members of the Knights of St. John International and Ladies Auxiliary across the world.

Today, we joyfully commemorate the birth of our Patron Saint, St. John the Baptist, a remarkable servant of God whose life continues to inspire and guide us in our Christian journey and in our noble vocation as Knights and Ladies.

St. John the Baptist remains a beacon of hope in times of despair. He was a courageous prophet who boldly confronted injustice and moral decadence in society, regardless of the consequences. His unwavering commitment to truth serves as a powerful reminder that, as Knights and Ladies, we are called to stand firmly for what is right, to defend the truth, and to uphold justice at all times, even when doing so may be difficult.

One of the most outstanding virtues of St. John the Baptist was his simplicity. Despite the greatness of his mission, he lived a humble and modest life. This simplicity is a virtue we are called to emulate. While some may misunderstand the regalia and ceremonial traditions of our noble Order, believing they are symbols of prestige or showmanship, we know that they represent our commitment to service, discipline, sacrifice, and fidelity to Christ and His Church. True knighthood is rooted not in outward appearance but in inward humility and sincere service.

St. John was a truthful and fearless man. He spoke the truth without compromise and pointed others to Christ, declaring that he must decrease so that Jesus might increase. His life teaches us the importance of selflessness, humility, and total dedication to God's mission.

The mission of the Knights of St. John International is deeply anchored in the life and example of our Patron Saint. We are called to proclaim the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ and, more importantly, to live out the message we preach. Through prayer, charity, and selfless service to God and humanity, we continue the work that St. John began—preparing hearts for Christ and bearing witness to the truth.

As we celebrate this great feast, I call upon all members to renew their zeal, commitment, and dedication to the ideals of our Order. As our nation gradually approaches the 2027 General Elections, this celebration also reminds us of our responsibility to courageously speak the truth to leaders and society. We must remain voices of conscience, promoting justice, integrity, accountability, and the moral values that strengthen our nation.

Let us continue to use our vision and mission to inspire others towards virtuous living and Christian witness. Let us remain steadfast in the sacred vows we have taken to defend the Church, support the weak, uphold the truth, and serve God faithfully.

I therefore urge every Knight and Lady to remain courageous, fearless, and unwavering in the pursuit of truth and righteousness, following the shining example of St. John the Baptist.

On behalf of my family and the leadership of the Abuja Grand Commandery, I wish all our Brothers and Sisters a joyful and grace-filled Feast of St. John the Baptist.

May our Patron Saint continue to intercede for us, strengthen our faith, and guide us in our service to God and humanity.

Happy Feast Day!
